Raindrops Foundation is a youth-run organisation working on projects related to gender equality, rural development, and persons with disabilities.
Their flagship initiative of Project Swabhimaan, is a social entrepreneurial project to provide employment opportunities to the most marginalised sections by training them to create upcycled handmade products.
Project Swabhimaan employees women working in brick kilns of Kanpur Dehat, and women from urban slums in Delhi.
These women are trained by members of their own community, and given a holistic range of workshops including financial and digital literacy and legal empowerment camps by student volunteers of the NGO.
The project aims to help these women from low income families become self-sufficient, and live with Swabhimaan (self-respect).
